Goals


Goal 1: Protect the University from political interference. 

If the Commonwealth has a weak Governor and/or Attorney General, the University is vulnerable to federal overreach as well as political interference from state elected and appointed officials.  Statutory reforms are needed to ensure the University can protect itself, regardless of whether the threat comes from the left or the right.


Goal 2: Prevent the University from signing an agreement with the Department of Justice.

The University should not capitulate to the Department of Justice's demands. Instead, UVA should insist on a full and fair investigation of alleged civil rights violations, in keeping with the Administrative Procedure Act (APA).  Harvard fought -- and won. UVA needs to fight, not cave.


Goal 3: Hold the Board of Visitors accountable. 

Honesty is the foundation of trust. Without honest answers from the Board of Visitors (BOV) about what happened to President Ryan, the University cannot - and should not - trust the BOV. The BOV must regain the trust of the UVA community


Goal 4: Prevent a failed or fake search for the 10th president.  

The Board of Visitors can't lead a successful search for UVA's tenth president until they've told the truth about what happened to the ninth one.  Any search conducted by the current Board of Visitors is tainted. With Interim President Paul Mahoney openly planning to move into Carr's Hill, the outcome of the search seems pre-determined.
